I LOVED this so much!! Gorgeous, gorgeous imagery. Oh the delight of spring poems…I find the summer season harder. Can’t wait to read more of your work!
thank you SO much - and I completely agree, the spring season with its bursting of new life, the rain, the flowers opening, so much happening, is way more inspirational for poetry :) I just wrote a summer poem though I"ll be posting in a few days! You should write one!
And is “lanterns in the dark” a reference to the Hopkin’s poem? I am forgetting the title, but he’s watching these men go by and plays with the image of lanterns in the night…just looked it up, it’s “Lanterns out of Doors” : )
it wasn't, intentionally, but I do LOVE Hopkins so it might have subconsciously influenced it - it wasn't a specific reference just the idea of sending out light in a dark world with poems - but thanks for referencing that poem because I just went and re-read it and fell in love with it all over again, what a perfect poem
Yes! I will try to gather some images and feelings up for some kind of summer poem! Glad you will post one soon : )
"Perhaps it’s time for us to lay aside
the precision of mathematics and grow as plants do,
steadily and with the intention to open
and close in tune and time with sun and sunder."
This touched me deeply. Thank you so much for this!
thank you SO much for reading!! and no better feeling than knowing it moved someone towards a deeper feeling. that's what we write for isn't it? :)
